It has rained for the past two days but today the Moms and lambs are out together and everything seems to be going O.K. The four moorit lambs have a hard time telling which Mama they belong to, and who is my brother or sister!! I have taken a lot of pictures of the lambs and hopefully will be able to use one of them for this summer's t-shirt design. The lambs are very fast moving targets so many of the pictures won't work! Yesterday Sandy (the Activity Director from Thompson House) brought a very good friend Marie up to the farm to visit the sheep and meet the 5 little lambs. I'm adding a couple of pictures and it was so nice to have them visit and see my studio.

Jonathan and I went to Northampton,MA on Monday to pick up a lift-recliner for Jonathan. Now the problem is, how do we fit it thru the front door........chainsaw perhaps and then super glue?? I am pretty sure my son David can figure out how to get it in the house. Both Jonathan and I have sore throats, coughs and feel terrible - maybe from the pollen I think? I took an anti-histamine yesterday but it didn't seem to do much for me. After the cloudy weather today it looks like a stretch of beautiful weather ahead for the weekend.

Darcy will be adding some new classes that we have scheduled at the farm so please check them out. I just love having classes here at the farm. I will be hosting a skirting party in the near future for all the members of the River Spinners Guild. They can come and learn to skirt Shetland fleeces, have a lovely lunch, meet the new lambs and have a day of fiber play! I also hope to set up a wool dyeing workshop because its such fun to see what each person creates with combining colors. I gave a Romney fleece to a lady that will be using it at a workshop in Jamaica. I will try to get pictures and have her write about what she is teaching the children.

Well, its time to go do some housework and run up to check on the Moms/lambs in the pasture. So-long from Maybelle MaMa

Oakley, Olivia, Odin, Otis and Odessa

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/05/oakley-olivia-odin-otis-and-odessa.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/05/oakley-olivia-odin-otis-and-odessa.html#comments

Uncategorized

    document.observe('dom:loaded', function() { wSlideshow.render({elementID:"874931073676841891",nav:"thumbnails",navLocation:"bottom",captionLocation:"bottom",transition:"fade",autoplay:"1",speed:"3",aspectRatio:"auto",showControls:"true",randomStart:"false",images:[{"url":"2/9/8/6/2986007/3827879.jpg","width":"166","height":"250"},{"url":"2/9/8/6/2986007/1963397.jpg [...]

document.observe('dom:loaded', function() { wSlideshow.render({elementID:"874931073676841891",nav:"thumbnails",navLocation:"bottom",captionLocation:"bottom",transition:"fade",autoplay:"1",speed:"3",aspectRatio:"auto",showControls:"true",randomStart:"false",images:[{"url":"2/9/8/6/2986007/3827879.jpg","width":"166","height":"250"},{"url":"2/9/8/6/2986007/1963397.jpg","width":"166","height":"250"},{"url":"2/9/8/6/2986007/2781800.jpg","width":"333","height":"187"},{"url":"2/9/8/6/2986007/1651412.jpg","width":"333","height":"187"},{"url":"2/9/8/6/2986007/870209.jpg","width":"333","height":"221"},{"url":"2/9/8/6/2986007/4557465.jpg","width":"333","height":"221","caption":"Starr with her babies Olivia and Oakley"}]}); I'm attaching some pictures of some of the lambs with Rowan and Declan and also a picture of "Odessa" the last lamb born at the farm on Saturday April 28. She weighed 7 lbs and Lyra is her mother. This year we got two beautiful little moorit ewe lambs, two moorit ram lambs and one kalmoget ram lamb. I love having lambs but it is a stressful time, now we can just enjoy all the silly playing as the lambs hop, bounce and run all over the pastures. We have had some very cold, rainy days so they have only been out once. After thunderstorms/rain tomorrow, the weather looks good so they can be outside. The grass is growing like mad fury and next comes the black flies!

Agathe, Olivia, Emma and Bill Hoos went with me to Dutton's farm in Windham last Friday to pick up 20 bales of 2nd cut hay. It was a great adventure as they had never been to the farm. We all climbed up into the hay loft and threw out the hay. Agathe, Olivia, Emma and I went to Walpole to Tractor Supply, Ocean State Job Lot, Mr. G's and had lunch.....what a fun day. Saturday afternoon I had Darcy call Bill because it looked like Lyra would have her lamb and so "Odessa" was born about 7 p.m. that night. We all got to see that delivery and make sure everything was fine. What a wonderful mother Lyra is and Odessa is just a very sweet, lovable little ewe.

Well Declan is having a nap and its almost time to go to the town hall for "Tap Dance" class. Our dance recital will be on Saturday June 2, 2012 at the Wardsboro Town Hall. The children have done a great job and the costumes are so pretty. I just love getting all the costumes and putting on the recital. Its just pure play time for me. So-long from Maybelle MaMa.

Ohhhh... the lambs are here!

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/04/ohhhh-the-lambs-are-here.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/04/ohhhh-the-lambs-are-here.html#comments

Uncategorized

    Oakley - born 4/20/12 [...]

Oakley - born 4/20/12

Olivia born 4/20/12 with her mother Starr and twin brother Oakley behind her.

Hello from Maybelle Farm. The lambs have finally arrived and it's so exciting. On Friday morning Star had little twin lambs. Bill, Agathe, Olivia and Emma Hoos helped me with the delivery. Star did a fantastic job and had a very straight forward, good birth. First came a beautiful little 5 lb. Kalmoget ram lamb we named Oakley. Next was a tiny little 4 lb. Moorit ewe we named Olivia. After Star cleaned them all up and they had nursed well, we moved them all to their own clean stall. My "student nurse" Emma with her purple rubber gloves held the bottle of iodine and the scissors, while my assistant "Dr. Olivia" with her purple rubber gloves cut the cord and dipped the cord in iodine. We then weighed each little lamb and came out of the stall. Everyone was doing fine so we cleaned up and waited for the next birth.

Yesterday was Rowan Kathleen's 8th birthday and I went to the barn to do chores. I asked Jonathan to call the Hoos family and they arrived at the barn for Colby to lamb. The delivery was not progressing as it should so Bill, Agathe and Emma went to do some errands. Olivia and I waited and watched, then realized that things were not working how they should. We went to the farmhouse to get Todd to help us. While we were in the house, on our camera screen (our closed circuit TV feed from the barn) we saw a head, but no feet! Oh my goodness, there comes a lamb! We raced back to the barn but Colby could not deliver the lamb. We got her into a small stall and Todd checked! Both front legs were back, the little lamb was breathing but Colby couldn't push him out. Todd was able to help her deliver a beautiful Moorit ram lamb we named Odin. The second lamb popped right out about 5 minutes after the first one and we named him Otis. Otis is Moorit with one fawn ear and is full of energy. I am going to attach some pictures of these adorable little babies. We are now waiting on Lyra who looks to be about a week or more behind these other two mother sheep. I will keep you posted as to when she has her baby or babies!

I took Declan to Flood Brook school to meet Darcy, as it was visiting/screening day for the incoming kindergarten students. He was a little nervous but excited too. He even got to ride on a school bus. My sister Bev went with us to Londonderry and I stopped and picked up stuff for lunch. It was hailing when we left Wardsboro to go to Londonderry and has rained a couple of times this afternoon. Its pretty nippy out tonight and I've shut the barn to try to keep the Moms/lambs warmer. Well that is all from Maybelle Farm for tonight. Goodnight from Maybelle MaMa.

Starr feeding her babies - Oakley and Olivia

Shearing Day

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/04/shearing-day.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/04/shearing-day.html#comments

Uncategorized

Hello from Maybelle Farm. Its Tuesday April 17th and we yes we survived another shearing day at the farm!!!!!! WHEWWWWWWWW!!! Craig and Philo Marcotte arrived at noon and we finished at 5:45 p.m. They sheared, wormed and trimmed hooves on 37 sheep and I am over the moon excited about some of the fleeces. I love every fleece but it's so exciting to see the fleece from some of our Shetland cross sheep. Clementine and Chet are a Coopworth/Shetland cross from Tinka and Luther. Clementine had a 9 lb. fleece of stunning white lambs wool! Chet had 8 1/2/ lbs of charcoal sparkling lambs wool. Chloe and Cecil are twins from Juliette that is a Coopworth/Shetland cross. I bred Juliette with Thistle and so Chloe had a dark moorit 8 lb. lambs wool fleece. Cecil had a dark charcoal sparkling 8 lb. lambs wool fleece. My beautiful white Custer that is a pure Shetland had a lovely white lambs wool fleece with an incredible crimp. I have some amazing fleeces this spring and can't wait to skirt some of them.

Maggie, Cedar and Flopsy from the Hoos Farm did a wonderful job being sheared. It was Maggie and Cedar's first shearing and they look like little fawns now. Bill, Agathe, Olivia and Emma Hoos arrived at 10:30 a.m. to help us with shearing and I am so grateful for all their hard work. I know Darcy and Todd appreciated their help and it made the day go a lot quicker and easier. Darcy and Todd have their own system down to a science on shearing day, so to have extra help is always so nice. I got up early and made 6 dozen donuts and had juice, soda, bottled water, brownies, etc... Then Agathe arrived with lots of chips, cookies, etc... I ordered grinders and bulkies from the store for lunch and it was a great day. Oh yes, about 20 minutes after I got home, my phone rang and our neighbor said there was a sheep running down the road out in the gully. I called Darcy and said I would be right up. By the time I got to the farmhouse, Darcy was out at the barn opening a gate and letting Vinca back into the pasture. Vinca had let herself out under a gate in the front pasture that Darcy had cleaned, spray painted and put back without the rabbit-wire. That meant that Vinca could scoot out under the gate and go for a little stroll around the farm!

I was not quite sure I could get out of bed this morning but I'm up and functioning.......sort of! My poor Java has very sore front hooves and I gave her some Banamine and shut her in a stall with Aphrodite for a couple of days. Poor Old Tally was shivering so I let her out mid-day to warm up. I want them to be out in the sun but then you have to worry that they will get sun-burned! Tonight the temp is supposed to drop to 28 degrees. Yesterday in the high 80's so no wonder the sheep are shivering. I'm going to shut the barn tonight and possibly put a sweater on Tally!

Craig said he thought that Colby will have her lambs in this next week. Star probably will be next and Lyra doesn't look very big but maybe she will just have one small little lamb. It will be a very good feeling when lambing is over. I'm always so glad when shearing and lambing is behind us.

This is school vacation week for Darcy, Rowan and Declan. They are going to Johnstown,NY to visit Todd's mother and so I will be on lamb watch here at the farm. I will be busy here setting up portable fence and moving sheep around for grazing. It's supposed to rain this weekend and we certainly can use it. I hope it will make the grass grow fast. The sheep certainly can take the grass down very quickly.

Tomorrow is my son David's birthday and I think I will make him a pecan pie for his birthday. My granddaughter Rowan Kathleen will have her 8th birthday this coming Monday April 23rd. Well I have to go start something for supper and then go do chores. It has been a very nice day here at Maybelle Farm. So-long from Maybelle MaMa.

It's official - we will have lambs!

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/04/its-official-we-will-have-lambs.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/04/its-official-we-will-have-lambs.html#comments

Uncategorized

Our pregnant ewes: Star, Lyra & Colby Hello again from Maybelle Farm. The Vet was here to give the CD & T shots to Colby, Lyra and Star and yes there will be lambs at Maybelle Farm within the next 2-3 weeks. Shearing will take place on Monday April 16th and I will be so glad to have that over!. Olivia and Bill Hoos will be bringing Flopsy, Maggie and Cedar to the farm on Thursday April 14th because they will be away for a couple of days and the sheep need to be here for shearing. I counted up the brown leaf bags today and am trying to get things cleaned up and ready for shearing. I took some pictures of the three pregnant ewes to see a before shearing picture and then I will do an after shearing picture!

I went to the River Spinners Guild meeting last night and we will have a table at the Wild and Wooly Week-end event in Proctorsville,Vt. Each Guild member was asked to bring marked items to be sold at this event. Alison Schantz and Jenna Konesko will go with me to the event. We will set up our table and sell items that week-end. I am planning to be there unless lambs arrive that week-end! It should be a fun time as the Pointe Hotel is a beautiful facility and there are some wonderful vendors that will be there.

This Sunday will be my last day at my current job for home care. I have to take some time off for all the work here at the farm. Its really hard to manage everything, so for now I need to be home at the farm. My grandson Declan's 5th birthday was yesterday and we made a birthday cake in a star pan that was my mother's. We had a little birthday party at my sister Bev's house and my brother Burdette and his wife Rosalee came to have cake and ice cream. My granddaughter Rowan will have her 8th birthday on April 23rd. Wow, the grandchildren certainly are growing up quickly. My son David will have a birthday on April 18th and be 37 yrs. old............how did my baby get to be that old?????? My daughter was 41 yrs. old on March 13th...........My husband Jonathan will be 71 on May 1st. My son's children ( my granddaughter Ella) will be 5 yrs. old on June 29th and her brother (my grandson) Austin will be 10 yrs. old on July 9th.

Tomorrow I will be working around the farm cleaning up and putting away things that need to be taken care of. Next Saturday is the first of two farm visits for the students that were in my after school Fiber Fun Classes. There were 19 students in the Wardsboro group and 10 students in the Townshend group. They were given the choice to come before shearing or after lambing. I hope that it is broken up into two smaller groups and now all 29 students show up on the same day! WHEEEEE!

Well its time to go fix supper and then I think Rowan is coming for her sleepover. So-long from Maybelle MaMa.

Marching into Spring

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/03/marching-into-spring.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/03/marching-into-spring.html#comments

Uncategorized

Hello again from Maybelle Farm. It's Friday March 23 and another sunny, beautiful day. I canno [...]

Hello again from Maybelle Farm. It's Friday March 23 and another sunny, beautiful day. I cannot believe this is March in Vermont! I'm 64 years old and I do not ever remember a winter like this and especially this hot, sunny weather so early and no snow! My daffodils have opened today, which is about a month early for them. I am concerned about the trees, shrubs and flowers budding out and blossoming so early too! What if the weather goes back to a hard winter and ruins all the plants? Oh well... just another thing for me to lay awake nights and fret about.

I've moved sheep into pastures so everyone can be outside. My very old, sweet Blake made it through the winter to be able to lay out in the sun and snuff around the pasture. Tally is out in the front pasture and even ran to come back to the barn when I called to her. Arly, my sweet white Shetland ewe, was out in a side pasture and caught her eyelid on a piece of wire and tore the lid! There isn't really anything the Vet can do as it wasn't big enough to stitch, so I put warm salt/water compresses on it and an antibiotic ointment in her eye. Today it looks like its really healing well which is a big relief for me, as she is one of my special girls.

Wednesday I UPS delivered a large box from Zeilinger Woolen Mill in Michigan which was filled with my sock yarn. It is a beautiful dark gray. The Mill is also making between 8-10 doz. pair of Shetland wool socks for me. I'm attaching a picture of the yarn to this blog. I just can't wait to get the socks! I'm also going to try to make some socks with the yarn. It is such a nice thing to get something made with your own wool. I know the socks will sell really quickly. I had some made before and sold them all so fast. I have been having a lot of activity on our Etsy website shop recently. I'm also getting things together to take to a shop called "Six Loose Ladies" in Ludlow, VT. They take consignment items and I'm hoping to sell a lot of the beautiful roving and yarn that I have. It would help to pay for shearing!

We are waiting to hear back from Craig & Philo, our shearers, as to when then they can come. We asked for April 16 or 20 - which is during our school vacation week. I just hope this works out as far as when lambs are due? Our friends Olivia and Emma will bring Flopsy, Maggie and Cedar here to the farm to be shorn too. So we will have Bill, Agathe, Olivia and Emma to help us that day for shearing. I dread shearing and stay in the house and make drinks, snacks and watch my grandchildren. Its such a relief when its over with all of the bags of wool weighed, labeled and lined up according to color.

Well, that's about all the news at Maybelle Farm for this time. I will sign off and go get busy. So-long from Maybelle MaMa

March roars in like a lion!

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/03/march-roars-in-like-a-lion.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/03/march-roars-in-like-a-lion.html#comments

Uncategorized

Maybelle Mama (Kathleen) with goofy Kara Hello again from Maybelle Farm. ">Hello again from Maybelle Farm. Its Thursday March 1, 2012 and we are having a lovely snowstorm!!!!! All the schools in our area are cancelled so its a playtime/snow day for lots of people. I just love snow days as its an excuse to do some fiber fun things! Not that I need an excuse to put off cleaning... just to putz around with wool! I'm going to try to get a few new things added to our Etsy.com because it helps get more people looking if you add some new things......

Rowan (my granddaughter) had a sleepover here at Yaya's house last night. She got breakfast in bed and can stay in her pajamas all day if she wants too! I had to get dressed and wallow through snow up to my knees. By the time I had climbed over the snowbank and rolled over the other side like a fat old Polar Bear, I was out of breath! I had to wallow out to the barn and was puffin like an old steam engine by the time I got there! The sheep are not going out of the barn! When we get this much snow, it starts to slide of the metal roof and it really spooks the sheep, so the just peek out the doorway. The three boys (Custer, Chet and Cecil) are in their little manger, happy as three little peas in a pod.

It's been so long since we've actually had lots of snow that you forget that it's still winter. Darcy is going to put on a couple of pictures up at the farmhouse. My nephews Norman and Tim are sugaring this year using my Dad's old sugar house. Its so nice to think that it's being used and the smell of maple syrup is nice too! When Darcy and David (my children) were little, my Dad would pack the snow down outside the sugar house, he would whittle wooden forks for them. Then we would have homemade donuts that my mother made, sour pickles and sugar on snow! I can taste it right now just thinking about it. Last year David, Austin, Ella, Darcy, Rowan, and Declan took me to Jacksonville to the Maple Sugar breakfast and then we went to two different sugar houses and then to Whitingham school for a craft fair. I hope we can do that again this year.

Well, we are trying to get a date set for shearing in April. The Vet will come give shots to the three ewes that I hope are going to lamb early May. I could do the shots but I like the Vet to just check the girls, as it makes me feel better. There is nothing so cute or more fun to watch than tiny little lambs, "boinging" around the pasture. My old Tally will be 15 yrs. old if she can make it to April, but she is looking and acting very old and tired.

The fiber classes that I'm teaching in Townshend with my friend Jenna are going so well and the students are very excited to learn about raising sheep and working with fiber. I think this will help increase enrollment in our summer fiber camps. I've started working with some of my fiber friends to set up classes for spring/summer/fall at the farm. Please check out our website to learn about more classes that will be happening. We will keep adding classes as instructors sign up.

Time to go get busy for the day. I had to sit down and write this blog to rest up from my trek out to the barn. Too old and too fat for this much snow! :-) So-long from Maybelle MaMa.

February News

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/02/february-news.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/02/february-news.html#comments

Uncategorized

Rowan at the nordic race at Grafton Ponds [...]

Rowan at the nordic race at Grafton Ponds

Hello again from Maybelle Farm. I wrote this on Saturday Feb. 10, which was a beautiful day, but am just getting this blog posted today. Anyways on the 10th, I went with Darcy, Rowan and Declan to Grafton Pond for Rowan's cross country skiing race. Declan did the lollipop race and it was his first time. Rowan did a great job in her race and it seemed like a very long race for such a little girl. She certainly loves skiing and does very well. We stopped back to the "Dam Diner" for lunch and I just got home.

It has been quite a while since I wrote about the farm. So far things are going well. I will have to buy more hay but that should be at the end of this month. Jonathan and I went to Essex Junction and stayed with my sister-in-law Milly overnight. We went to the Vermont Farm Show and I had a wonderful time. I met Amy Kuzio at the VSGA booth and came home with a beautiful skein of her Romney/alpaca yarn. I knitted a hat for her so she has a sample of what her yarn knits up like. Yesterday I got a package with a lovely skein of yarn from Amy as a thank you for making her a hat. It is wonderful to work with and one skein will make a hat and it will also make wonderful socks, scarf, mittens. Check out Spring Mist Farm in Vermont, where Amy raises Romney and Romney cross sheep and Alpaca.

I have been teaching a Fiber Fun class at the Wardsboro Elementary School this winter. My friend Jenna Konesko teaches with me and we have 19 students. Its a five week class and this Monday is the last class. We have taught braiding, spinning with a drop spindle, carding wool, needlefelting a sheep, pom pom sheep and this final class is weaving. We start another class in Townshend on Feb. 27th. The Jamaica Elementary school would like us to do a class in April/May. I have to see if I can work that in around shearing/lambing and regular farm work!!!!!!! Whew!

Well, on to the next thing for Maybelle Farm. I got an e-mail from my partner in crime, Donna Carlucci: "How would you like some mini-donkeys?????????" I started looking at pictures and "Oh my goodness", I really think I need a couple of these adorable little animals. Do I need any more animals at the farm? NO, but I really think I want them! HA HA... here goes another of my wild ideas. I can't help but think they will be a nice addition to the farm.

On Thursday afternoon I started teaching Tap Dancing again at the Wardsboro Town Hall. This will be my final year as poor old YaYa just ain't what she used to be! The children are so cute and range from ages 3 yrs.old to 10 yrs. old and three of my four grandchildren will be dancing and possibly my oldest grandson will do a little number in the Recital. I so love picking out the music, making up the dances and especially picking out the costumes.

Well, I have to get stuff done as tomorrow is my long day of work. I leave here at 8 a.m. and get home at 9:30 p.m. Jonathan has to be at Greenfield,MA. hospital Monday morning at 8:20 a.m. for another MRI so I will have to get up extra early to get chores done and get him to the hospital. Lettie our Japanese Akita has to go to the Vet for her Rabies shot to get her license renewed April 1st. We should get home about 12 noon.

Got to close and get busy. So long from Maybelle MaMa.

My old sweet ewe Avacado

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/01/my-old-sweet-ewe-avacado.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/01/my-old-sweet-ewe-avacado.html#comments

Uncategorized

_Hello from Maybelle Farm. Its Wed. Jan 18, 2012 and I just had to have our Vet come to put down my very sweet Avocado this morning. She was my oldest sheep and would have been 14 this spring. I am so very sad but when she hobbled out into the middle of the barn, I knew it was time. Stephen, our Vet, let me hold her while he gave her the medicine. I got to hold her and tell her how special she was to me and that was a comfort. He also checked on Arly who I have been treating for pinkeye. He said that is actually a corneal abcess and also glaucoma. I will need to treat her eye with quartermaster twice a day for 4-5 more days. I cannot put her back in with the big group of ewes as Stephen said she shouldn't take any beatings from the other sheep. Well, its been quite a day so I'm going to take a shower, eat my lunch and go do a special after school program at 3:30 p.m. Good-bye from Maybelle MaMa

Brrrrrrrr!

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/01/brrrrrrrr.html

http://www.maybellefarm.com/1/post/2012/01/brrrrrrrr.html#comments

Uncategorized

_Hello again from Maybelle Farm. Its Monday Jan.16, 2012 and it was 10 [...]

_Hello again from Maybelle Farm. Its Monday Jan.16, 2012 and it was 10 below zero when I got up this morning! WOW! That is too cold for me. I really wanted to just curl up and stay in my nice warm, cozy bed but I knew my sheep needed to be fed and I had to fill 9 heated water buckets. I can tell you, it didn't take me long to do chores! The sheep sort of saw a blurrrrrr in the barn this morning! Wheee, it's too darn cold! Arly has pinkeye again or some eye infection so she is getting LA 200 3 c.c. every other day for three doses and eye ointment twice a day. I do think its better today. I called Stephen (our Vet) last Wednesday and he told me what to give her. I think he will be coming to the farm this coming Wednesday to put my very sweet old Avocado down. She is just a very tired, lame, OLD girl and I am so sad to have to tell her good-bye.

My son David used my nephew Larry's ( a.k.a COOP) backhoe and we buried Luther last Wednesday evening just before the storm hit! This coming week Larry will use his backhoe to repair our water cistern. When Hurricane Irene passed through, the water from the brook near our cistern went over the top of the cistern. We have been using bottled water ever since Aug. 28th and its getting very old by now. They will have to take the cover off and clean out the tank. It should have been done in warmer weather!!!!!!!!!

I'm attaching a picture of the woodpecker at our bird feeder. We didn't have hardly any birds this winter until this last storm. Now we have chickadees, junkos, morning doves, blue jays and one red squirrel. They certainly let you know when a storm is coming because the feeder is very busy just before a storm. The sun is shinning and it looks like such a nice day but it is bitterly cold. Lets see, I got an e-mail from my friend Donna last night and she said........11 more weeks until April 1st! I am so ready for spring, so I will have to satisfy myself looking at seed catalogs!

I went to Brattleboro on Saturday morning with my son David and my grandchildren Ella and Austin. It was Ella's last day at gymnastics. I will attach a picture of her with her ribbon at the end of the class. We went to "Old MacDonald's" for breakfast after her class. That is MacDonald's according to Ella. We took Austin to the barber shop for a haircut and then picked up a few things at the new Wal-Mart in Hinsdale. When we got home David cleaned up with the tractor and yesterday he plowed out to the barn for me. I had to work my 11.5 hr. shift yesterday so Darcy, Declan and Rowan took care of my dog Lettie and kept the wood stove going while Jonathan and I both were at work.

Well, I guess that's all the news so far from Maybelle Farm so I will close and go get busy cleaning. There is always so much cleaning to do and I'd rather be reading a good book! HAHA!
