Hello again from Maybelle Farm. 
WOW, I had a big burst of energy and have done an inventory of our raw wool.  I have 104 bags of raw wool and that's a lot of wool!  I'm going to write out a list of the sheep and their colors and the amount of bags I have of each one:

Hello again from Maybelle Farm.  Its Thursday Feb. 25th and we are up to our eyeballs in snow.  I have had to crawl over the snowbank to get to the barn door!  The poor sheep cannot get out of the barn and I cannot shovel anymore snow to get them out......it also looks like alot more snow is on the way!  They cancelled school for Darcy and Rowan yesterday and then did a 2 hr. delay this morning.  Darcy had been gone about 10 minutes when the school called and cancelled for today.  Thank goodness, Todd was able to get Darcy just as she was getting into Jamaica.  The traveling is terrible and I'm very glad she and Rowan are back home now.

I have talked with Darcy and we have planned a March Madness Fiber Sale for Saturday and Sunday March 20/21st, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We will be selling raw fleeces at a discount, roving and a good surplus of the roving is from the Fiber of the Month club so you can buy different types of wool and beautiful cross fibers such as Merino/Romney   or Blueface/Cormo just to give a couple of examples.  I will also be selling everything on sale. Yarn,handmade items,needlefellting supplies and kits, dyed wool and much,much more.  Come to Maybelle Farm to stock up on your fiber fix.  It will be held upstairs over the new garage in my Fiber Studio.   We will also have coffee,tea and snacks.  You can call the farm or e-mail for more information.

I have to move the raw fleeces out before shearing this April and I just have to downsize my stash!!!!!!!  Its taking over the farm and I need to make room to start getting ready to hold classes in the new studio.  I plan to offer classes for spinning,needlefelting,wet felting,wool dyeing workshops and much more.  Watch for a schedule to come out in the spring for classes.

Hello from Maybelle farm.  Its Sunday Feb. 7th and it has been very busy at the farm.  Declan my 2 1/2 yr. old grandson has been sick with asthma.  He went with Darcy and Todd to Dartmouth/Hitchcock to have a follow-up visit with the pediatric allergist.  He now has an asthma plan and hopefully that will keep him healthier.  Darcy went back to Darmouth/Hitchcock for a follow-up from her varicose vein surgery and is doing very well.  Poor little Rowan that is 5 yrs. old ended up being admitted to Brattleboro Hospital on Wednesday because of the flu,dehydration and pneumonia.  They sent her home Thursday evening after giving three bags of I.V. liquids and I.V. antibiotics.  She only weighs 35 lbs. and can't stand on her own.  She is such a tiny,sick little mite and I have been staying at the farm as much as I can.  We are having bitter cold weather and the wind chill is below zero.
 I also have a sick sheep.  My beautiful moorit ewe Maura has been sick and we are not sure if she got butted by one or several of the other ewes or what is going on.  I have been giving her liquid prednisone for two weeks and I think she is doing as well as can be expected.  She is 10 yrs. old and most of my sheep are getting old like me. I'm thinking of starting a geriatric farm for old sheep and have an "Ewe are Old" ward in the barn!  I could even put an old recliner out there for myself and spend time with the old ewes!
Got to go get to work on some cleaning here at home.  Oh yes, I do have a homecare job finally and its taking care of an elderly man.  I took care of his wife about 3-4 yrs. ago, so it makes it nice that I know him.  I will also be doing a Hospice case here in town for someone I've known my whole life.  Will write more in a few days.  Good-bye from Maybelle MaMa

    Here it is the last day of January and it is soooooo cold.  I worked Friday night doing private duty  and when I went out in the morning to start my car it was 2 below zero. The wind has been just terrible and Thursday night it was the wildest wind I have ever heard up here on our hill.  I've lived here 62 yrs. and truely thought I was on my way to Kansas! I didn't even have on my red shoes!  Oh well, I'm hoping that Feb will be a milder month.  I did not even open the barn for two days because of the wind chill.  Today has been a play day for me.  I needlefelted a cute multi-colored dachshund that was a special order.  I made one for a lady that saw my work last week-end in West Dover at the Mountainside Photo Gallery.  She took my business card and e-mailed me.  I sent her pictures of her finished dog Moxie and now her daughter wanted her dog Bailey done. Yesterday the same lady e-mailed me to order a yorkshire terrier for a friend that saw the picture of Moxie.  I really enjoy doing the animals and trying to get a nice facial expression.

  My son came up to the farm with the Kioti tractor and moved a huge pile of manure away from the barn.  Now I can have my helper come clean out the whole barn as soon as the temperature is decent.  I also will have to bring in another 100 bales of hay with-in the next week.  Hay is expensive but now-a-days what isn't expensive.  I am very grateful to have a new job taking care of a very nice elderly man.  I took care of his wife about 4 yrs. ago so its always nice to work in a place that is familiar.  I am also teaching tap dancing and it is really nice.  I have very nice students and they love to dance and look forward to the costumes and recital in June.  They start at 2 1/2 yrs. old (my grandson) up to age 11yrs. old

  I am pretty well burned out as far as the fiber business goes and have decided to just take a step back and not try to plan anything for the next few months.  I am going to get the fiber out of the barn as we will be shearing the end of April.  I have to close for now and go fix some supper,go do the chores and then I'm going to plop down by the soapstone stove for the evening a read a good book.  Goodnight from Maybelle MaM
