On Thursday Sept. 25th I had 6 new sheep arrive at the farm. I have taken 6 Border-Leicester/Shetland sheep from a lovely family in Dummerston. There are 4 white sheep, including Leo is (a wether and the son of my beautiful sheep Snowflake that I bought from them two yrs. ago), Pebbles, a fawn/gray ewe with a spotted leg and Aqua, a dark chocolate brown ewe. They are all beautiful sheep with incredible fleeces. I can't wait to see their wool fleeces when we shear them in the spring. Two of the white ones are going to go to Katryna and Mike Fitzpatrick and will only be about 2-3 miles away from my house in Wardsboro.
Since we have put our dog down last month, we have now decided to get a cat. My friend Lauri brought us a beautiful ginger/tiger cat named Tigger. He certainly is earning his keep being here. As of last night, he has caught 10 mice here in our house! Since the weather is getting colder, the mice decided to come to visit. Thank goodness he is such a great hunter. He also loves spending time with Jonathan. He sleeps in Jonathan's lap whenever Jonathan is in his recliner.
Green Mountain Power came and took down 8 trees in our yard because the trees were dying and they were in between our power lines. There certainly is a lot of firewood in our yard and lots of work ahead to get it all cut up. It makes such a difference and I can look at the mountains again. When Mt. Snow has fireworks, I can watch them from my bedroom window.
I went to WIlmington on Saturday Oct. 18th and was a Vendor at the Quilt Show. I did very well and Olivia Hoos came with me to help for the day. I couldn't manage without her help and we have a lot of fun talking, laughing and then went out for pizza on the way home. I will be vending at the "Bright Lights" craft show the first Saturday in December in Wilmington. I vended there two years ago and did very well. I hope the weather will be O.K. and that its very busy this year.
Well, I guess that is about all I can think of for now. We are working on getting ready for winter, snow squalls this weekend so down comes all the portable fences. I think we have 9 rolls to bring in and then the hay is put out morning and night. I have about 700 bales of hay in the barn and I'm going to get several round bales from the Wheeler farm to help me get through the winter.
Goodnight from Maybelle MaMa
