Wardsboro cancelled school on Tuesday and Londonderry (Flood Brook School) cancelled on Wednesday. Declan built a french "Duck Dynasty" snowman with a long brown beard. Rowan helped me put up Christmas light along the top of our fence. It looks so pretty at night-time with all the puffy snow. The sheep don't seem to be bothered by the snow and everyone is doing well. I had to take the time this morning to write about the sheep. I so enjoy chore time. There is something so peaceful and relaxing to sit on the bottom step in the barn and listen to the sheep munching on the hay. It is so quiet except for this soothing sound. Life is good at Maybelle Farm. I want to wish Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year to everyone from our farm.
Blog from Friday Dec. 12, 2014. It certainly is much nicer, weather wise today than this whole week. We really got hit with quite the storm. It started out with snow ,then sleet, freezing rain and what a mess. The power went off Tuesday evening but we were some of the lucky ones in the state of Vermont. It was back on in less than 2 hrs. I have to give a lot of thanks to the repair people that are working so hard to get power back to everyone in the state. I went to Londonderry to my grandchildren's Christmas Concert rehearsal yesterday and I have to say they really got hit a lot harder than we did.

We have been very busy at the farm getting breeding groups together. I must say it went so much easier than I had anticipated! The sheep were more than happy to go for a walk with us to visit the "Men". Darcy did have to shovel out gates but it was not too much snow. First we moved our Shetland ewes, Onora, Florence, Fergie, and our Merino ewe, Fignukin, to the front pasture to be with Shetland ram Fergus. Oh my goodness, Fergus was in love with Florence at first glance! Rowan is very hopeful that a lamb or lambs will be born on her birthday, April 23rd,2015. Next we brought Rosebud and Pebbles, our Border-Leicester/Shetland ewes to be with our white Shetland ram Custer. He was extremely happy to see them, but they were not too happy to be with Custer and his buddies! Yesterday I had a needlefelting class and the project for the morning was to make a small Santa. I' m putting a picture of the finished results and they are wonderful. It was such an nice class with talking and lots of laughing... how I wish I could teach more classes. I have to say that needlefelting truly makes me happy! I'm working frantically trying to get enough things made for the "Bright Lights Craft Fair" in Wilmington on Dec. 13th. I have knitted hats and made a lot of stuff to sell. I will be in a vending space next to Karen Wheeler of "Wheeler Wovens" and we will laugh away the day. It's a wonderful event so please stop in to say "Hi" and check out all the amazing things for sale. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I got to have Darcy, Rowan, Declan and their dog Kara stay we us over Thanksgiving break. They are without bathrooms at the farmhouse so they are here with me. Kara and our cat Tigger are slowly getting used to each other and it's very entertaining. Kara has to carry a toy in her mouth and tries very hard not to look at the cat. The cat is now stalking Kara and getting closer and closer......very funny to watch. So life is good at the farm and its so nice to have most of the sheep at the barn. Chores are much easier for me and it's nice to be able to visit with the different ones. I will put on a couple of pictures of the sheep in the snow as they seem to really like it. I think that is about it for now so I will say so long from Maybelle MaMa. |
