I have hay in the barn. I have sold 4 ram lambs and my adult ram Fergus. Fergus will be headed to Maine in October and that will make things on the farm so much easier for me. I will then have my numbers below 50 sheep and hope to get down to about 40 by winter time. We took little "Burdette" our only ram lamb left at the farm away from his mom and he is now in the big boy pasture. Everyone looks wonderful and its such a nice time on the farm. Darcy has been wonderful moving portable fence all summer/fall and hopefully with some more rain, they can keep grazing for at least another month.
It is also that time of year again that I am teaching a Fiber Fun class at the Wardsboro Elementary School. It so nice to watch the children learn about fiber and make such beautiful things. We made wet felted beads and wet felted bars of soap last week. This week we needle felted acorn Christmas tree ornaments and needle felted pumpkins for Halloween. The class is growing as students see what can be made from wool. I will be teaching an adult class in Londonderry later in October. I just finished teaching a "Landscape Needlefelting" class at Wing and a Prayer farm in Shaftbury,VT last week. I stayed at the farm and had the most incredible time Sunday evening through Tuesday late afternoon. I helped Patty Blomgren teach a spinning workshop and had so much fun.
My needlefelting work will be on display at the Wardsboro Public Library for the month of October. I'm the featured artist and it will be all of my felted landscapes. I am cutting back on homecare now and will be spending more time working in my fiber studio and scheduling more classes. As soon as cold weather arrives knitting, spinning, dyeing wool, needlefelting, wet felting, etc... become popular. I also am excited to go tomorrow with my friend Karen to the Adirondack Fiber Festival in Greenwich,N.Y. I am going to pick up my beautiful yarn that was processed at Battenkill Fiber Mill. I can hardly wait for tomorrow to get here, it will be a sleepless night in Wardsboro!
Well I have to stop now and get ready to go play for a 90th birthday party this afternoon. Oh yes, in my spare time I play the piano in our family band! Have a very nice fall foliage season and so-long from Maybelle MaMa.
