It has been quite a while since I wrote about the farm. So far things are going well. I will have to buy more hay but that should be at the end of this month. Jonathan and I went to Essex Junction and stayed with my sister-in-law Milly overnight. We went to the Vermont Farm Show and I had a wonderful time. I met Amy Kuzio at the VSGA booth and came home with a beautiful skein of her Romney/alpaca yarn. I knitted a hat for her so she has a sample of what her yarn knits up like. Yesterday I got a package with a lovely skein of yarn from Amy as a thank you for making her a hat. It is wonderful to work with and one skein will make a hat and it will also make wonderful socks, scarf, mittens. Check out Spring Mist Farm in Vermont, where Amy raises Romney and Romney cross sheep and Alpaca.
I have been teaching a Fiber Fun class at the Wardsboro Elementary School this winter. My friend Jenna Konesko teaches with me and we have 19 students. Its a five week class and this Monday is the last class. We have taught braiding, spinning with a drop spindle, carding wool, needlefelting a sheep, pom pom sheep and this final class is weaving. We start another class in Townshend on Feb. 27th. The Jamaica Elementary school would like us to do a class in April/May. I have to see if I can work that in around shearing/lambing and regular farm work!!!!!!! Whew!
Well, on to the next thing for Maybelle Farm. I got an e-mail from my partner in crime, Donna Carlucci: "How would you like some mini-donkeys?????????" I started looking at pictures and "Oh my goodness", I really think I need a couple of these adorable little animals. Do I need any more animals at the farm? NO, but I really think I want them! HA HA... here goes another of my wild ideas. I can't help but think they will be a nice addition to the farm.
On Thursday afternoon I started teaching Tap Dancing again at the Wardsboro Town Hall. This will be my final year as poor old YaYa just ain't what she used to be! The children are so cute and range from ages 3 yrs.old to 10 yrs. old and three of my four grandchildren will be dancing and possibly my oldest grandson will do a little number in the Recital. I so love picking out the music, making up the dances and especially picking out the costumes.
Well, I have to get stuff done as tomorrow is my long day of work. I leave here at 8 a.m. and get home at 9:30 p.m. Jonathan has to be at Greenfield,MA. hospital Monday morning at 8:20 a.m. for another MRI so I will have to get up extra early to get chores done and get him to the hospital. Lettie our Japanese Akita has to go to the Vet for her Rabies shot to get her license renewed April 1st. We should get home about 12 noon.
Got to close and get busy. So long from Maybelle MaMa.
