It's Saturday morning Sept. 18th, 2010 and I write this blog with a very sad heart. My son David arrived yesterday morning at 5:30 a.m. with the sad news that his beautiful Newfoundland dog "Bogart" had died about one hr. earlier. He had asked to go out but it was raining very hard, so he came upstairs and lay down on the small rug at the foot of Daivd's bed. Bogart coughed and David jumped up, but it was too late!!!!l I guess its better that it was quick but they are such a part of the family and everyone is soooooo sad.
David's children are Austin 8 yrs. old and Ella that is 3 yrs. old. When I went there late morning Ella said "YaYa, BoBo in doggie heaven". I told her yes he was because he was such a good old man! Austin took me out to show me where they put him, near his favorite spot by the stonewall. It is such a hard thing to go thru but none of us would trade one minute of our time with our pets. It is incredible ,the silence that is left in your home without them!
Well, we have to keep going and today David is taking the children with PaPa and going to a truck pull in Wilmington,Vt. for this morning. I'm going to do a pork-roast in my crock-pot so we can have pulled pork for dinner tonight. Its a beautiful, sunny day so I have so much work to do at the farm because a reporter is coming Tuesday morning to interview me about Maybelle Farm. Its very exciting for me, and I just hope I don't talk like Donald Duck........because when I'm excited or nervous I tend to rattle like a magpie!
I think this afternoon I will make another batch of green tomato relish and that will be so tasty this winter. I guess its time to go set up some portable and move some sheep. This is Maybelle Mama signing off for today.
