It's a cloudy day but its about 40 degrees out and seems warm compared to the awful cold we have had. I decided that as long as I had the time this morning, I would sort all the fleeces in the barn by color and get them ready to move out! Holy Hen Poop!!!!!!!!! "I'm a "WOOL HOARDER"! When everything was organized by color and I wrote down all the wool, I had 93 bags of wool!!! This means some from 2006 through 2010. I really, REALLY have to get on the ball, and get this wool skirted and sent out. I have decided to send some to Zeilingers to be made into socks. Some will go to the Battenkill Fiber Mill and hopefully Patty Blomgren will process some for me. I am determined to get this all out of the barn before shearing this spring. I want to be able to take a lot of fleeces to the Vermont Sheep Festival at Tunbridge Fairground the first weekend of October. I will be a vendor there and seeing how "Shetland Sheep" are the featured breed, the fleeces should sell really well.
This last week my husband Jonathan came home from work with the upset stomach/aching flu type bug and then it went to Rowan, onto Darcy and finally it got me Thursday evening/Friday so I didn't go to my class at Marlboro college. I worked at the Rookery on Wednesday and had just a wonderful time decorating quail eggs for Easter. I was supposed to meet a couple on Saturday at the Tasha Tudor Museum but had to cancel because of being sick. I think that Amy met them at the Museum.
It's very exciting to plan a new exhibit for the Museum and there is so much to think about and work on. We are discussing doing a "Tasha's kitchen" exhibit and having mixing bowls, wooden spoons, etc, etc, and possibly a tea table where visitors could sit and have their picture taken. I love thinking up ways to change the displays and changing the gift shop around and just making it look different for this season. We will also have a telephone hooked up in another week at the Museum.
This coming Thursday I start my first week of tap dance classes here at the Wardsboro Town Hall. It will be a 12 week semester with a dance recital on Friday June 10th. This is such fun for the children here in our little town. For a lot of the children, its a chance to dance that wouldn't happen otherwise. Its a long trip to Brattleboro and also I try to keep the cost at a minimum. I've found discontinued costumes on ebay and also tap shoes and so they get really beautiful costumes for a reasonable price and its such fun to see them on stage. The youngest class is 3-4 yr. olds and you never know what will happen the night of the show.
Well, its time to go clean up the kitchen and get ready for a pot roast dinner for Darcy's birthday. That is her favorite meal and Rowan and Declan helped me make a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and decorated with green/white M & M's sent by Darcy's cousin Cindy from Alabama. They say Happy Birthday, Happy 40th,Declan and Rowan, etc, etc, etc. We needed M & M's to decorate and when Darcy got home, there was a package on her porch from Cindy! Horray.....Cindy saved the day~!
