We are very excited at Maybelle Farm to announce that we will be doing our Fiber of the Month Club again for 2011. Here'sow it works is as follows: You get 4-6 oz. of roving each month along with business cards/brochures from the featured farm. After you have spun the roving, you can then order directly from the featured farm. This way I get a little business organizing this club and then the farms get business too. It will start in January and we will be the featured farm with 6 oz. of Juliette. She is my beautiful Coopworth/Shetland cross and her roving is a very dark charcoal gray and she spins like "BUTTA"! The cost is $20.00/per month and you can look at the list for the year and pick just certain months or you can get a discount if you purchase a yr. subscription. Its $220.00 for the year. You will also get a small package of mystery fiber each month to try and guess what you have spun. I will put the answer to the mystery fiber in the next month's package.
I have had so much fun doing this fiber club and I get to try so many different fibers plus meet so many nice fiber people. After Christmas I will have a listing of all the farms and the roving you will get.......a little sneak peek is some lovely border leister/cross roving, some cormo roving, lovely alpaca roving, some delicious mohair/wool blend and much more. Please keep checking back for the complete list.
I also ended up cancelling the "Needlefelting aTraditional or Victorian Santa" class because of bad weather. The next very exciting event will be on Saturday January 22, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wardsboro Town Hall. Its going to be a Fiber Demo & Fiber Sale to benefit the Wardsboro Public Library. The vendors include: Cheryl Flett of CherylAvenue with Wet Felting and items to sell, Alison Schantz spinning on one of her beautiful spinning wheels, Margaret Sliva of Margie's Muse will demonstrate her weaving and have items to sell, Jenna Konesko will demonstrate the drop spindle and have items to sell, and I will represent Maybelle Farm and will do Needlefelting and have items to sell. This will be a wonderful event for anyone interested in fiber. We also hope to have someone doing rug hooking and possibly other fiber related demos. If you have an idea - please post a comment!! Please keep checking this blog for updates.
So long from Maybelle MaMa
