Sunday was the day for the open house. Cheryl Flett and Alison Schantz arrived to do wet felting and spinning demos.......Mid-afternoon, another tornado watch for southern Vt. and it sure was wild! We were upstairs in my fiber studio making wet felted flowers and vines and Alison made a wet felted pouch. We were having so much fun that we barely noticed the terrible weather. Around 3:30 p.m. there was a break in the weather and a very nice family from New York City stopped and had a tour of the farm. They all got to meet Percy, our little white ram lamb and go into the barn to see all the raw fleeces, my skirting table and learn where the wool comes from. They had two very nice daughters that I think are going to sign up for the Fiber Fun Camp.
My little Catherine was up on Toby Hill for 6 days so I got to take care of her and have lots of fun planting flowers, checking out the vegetable garden and just enjoying being with her and her daughter Taf. Yesterday (June 10th) I went to East Dover to take care of my two sweet little ladies that are 92 and 94 yrs. old. Poor little Mildred was taken to Bennington hospital Wed. night with congestive heart failure. I spent the day with Bea and we took the little dog for a walk and puttered around the house doing laundry, fixing breakfast and lunch and then she had a nap.
I got supper, chores done and fell into bed only to have the phone ring at about 2:30 a.m. "Mom, can you come up now please? Declan is having an Asthma/Croup attack and I need your help"! I got dressed like the Keystone cops and raced up the hill. We ended up taking Declan and Rowan and going to Brattleboro Hospital emergency room. Darcy had given him three nebulizer treatments and ran out of oxygen and he was not getting any better.....WHEWWWWW They gave him prednisone in the E.R. and when we were headed home, he started singing " I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee, won't my Mama be surprised to see"!!!!!!!! They can scare the life out of you one minute and then start singing! WOW, I'm just glad he is doing o.k. today. After that iIt was like trying to keep up with the energizer bunny.......he zoomed around until I was worn out.
Well the sun has been shining and everyone is doing o.k. so life is good here at Maybelle Farm.
Goodnight from Maybelle MaMa, and oh yes, I'm going to get Rowan to have her Friday night sleepover with YaYa.
