So now the pastures are running out of grass and I'm moving portable about every other day. I do have about 500-600 bales of hay for the winter and plan to put in about 200 more just to make sure I have enough and don't run out the end of March. I am having to feed out hay right now as there just isn't enough grass, we really, REALLY need three or four days of nice soaking rain.......not heavy rain.
Jonathan and I went to the Washington County Fair in Greenwich, N.Y. on Aug. 21 and met up with our friends the Hoos family, for their first visit to the fair. It's a wonderful Agricultural fair and we had a great day. I am working a lot of hours at Toby Hill and have found I'm getting really tired. This "Old Gray Mare, Ain't What She Used To BE"! I have all kinds of ideas and so much I plan to do but I just poop out before I can get alot done. My last day at Toby Hill is Tuesday Sept.11. Catherine will leave Wed. Sept. 12 to go back to Cambridge. We have had a wonderful team of caregivers this summer and I want to thank each one for all their hard work.
Darcy took Rowan and Declan to Essex Junction over Labor Day weekend to stay with my sister-in-law Milly. They went to the Champlain Valley Fair and had a time. I am going to the Adirondack FIber Fair with Karen Wheeler on Sat. Sept. 22. There are 140 vendors and I'm sure I can get into a lot of trouble that day. Maybe we should take our minivan so we can fit more stuff in it?? Karen says Rob is worried we will come back with an Alpaca or two! HHMMMM... there's an idea!
Jonathan bought a 1994 Coleman Pop-Up camper and we will be taking that to go to the Sandwich Fair on Columbus Day weekend in New Hampshire. My son David had to set it up in our yard to see how everything worked and then he took it home so he could have a sleep-out with his children Austin and Ella. I am really worried about those little metal poles that hold up both ends. I'm afraid when Jonathan plops down on his bed.............WHEEEEEE he will catapult me out of the camper..........right into Donna's pasture with all her beautiful shetland sheep! All I can do is laugh thinking about some of the cartoon I've watched with my grandson Declan. "Its SHAWN the SHEEP!" Watch YAYA fly thru the air and land in the pasture!
Well I guess thats about all for now so I will sign off and go get to work. So-long from Maybelle MaMa
