I am happy Burdette went to such a nice new home but I will miss him. Two beautiful ewes came to the farm yesterday along with Ace from Kindred Spirit Farm. I bought Pippin who is bred by Acer, and also Prudence who is Pippin's daughter. Prudence is a yearling and is not bred and reminds us all of a favorite ewe we had many years ago named Maura. Two weeks ago my son David and my grandchildren Austin and Ella took me to Brookfield,MA and we picked up a beautiful little Shetland ewe who is 11 months old and a little 11 month old Shetland wether. Ella named the little ewe Kacy and Declan named the little wether Karlos.
We have some new bloodlines added to the farm and some very old ewes that are plugging along through the winter. One of our oldest ewes, Sheila - who will be 13 in April, was down and I thought the Vet would have put her down last Friday. With some extra TLC she has rallied and is eating and doing O.K. Life on the farm is always busy and just when you think you know what your doing and things are going well, something happens.
I will add on some pictures of the new arrivals at the farm and some pictures to say farewell to Burdette. The weather has been cold, windy and lots of ice/crust and I am counting the days until spring.
My daughter's beautiful golden retriever Kassie turned 1 year old this past weekend. My grandchildren are busy with many different activities. Austin is enjoying his woodworking class at Leland and Gray High School. Rowan is acting in her school play "Oliver Twist" which will be at the Weston Playhouse in April. Declan won second place at his cross country ski race last weekend and Ella got the last basket today in their play-off basketball game.
Life is good at Maybelle Farm. Time for me to say Good-night from Maybelle MaMa.
